The project statusThe Project has started five years ago by filling the first of a series of patent applications and further analyzing the possible system optimizations that can become acceptable by operators, manufacturers and the Launch industry. We continue to submit further patent applications and develop significant partnerships (by means of MoUs and co-operation Agreements). We also seek opportunities to capitalize on qualification flights of ESA or of launch service providers, if they arise, for sending fuel on orbit at low cost.
The Tanker Mission which had originally been proposed to ESA is under consideration for future missions from some launch service providers. After the adoption by the European Parliament of two resolutions in 12-06-02 and 9-10-03 concerning the OOS (see downloads) there is increased propability for a public/private partnership to fully deploy the Project. In parallel to the technical and political efforts a marketing plan of sponsor offerings is being developed with Media firms for companies that would like to associate themselves with a pioneering mission. The HERMES Project is ready to be kick-started, for performing a TANKER mission and start the detailed design of the UA. |
